First off, in this packed
issue, we have several interesting, exclusive interviews.
Elizabeth Nolan speaks to Dr Charles Brown, the world-renown
arthroscopic knee surgeon, about his pioneering work in
minimally invasive anterior cruciate ligament surgery. As part
of our annual focus on complementary medicine we chat to Dr
Madan Kataria, the giggling guru, about the benefits of laughter
for healing. We also speak to Dubai-based reflexologist Graca
Ward about the art of reflexology.
Elsewhere in this issue, we publish an important debate about
whether hospitals should allow reporters through the doors at
times of natural and man-made disasters in order to protect
patients’ dignity and privacy.
In the segment on cleaning and sterilisation there is an
educational feature highlighting the significance of hand
hygiene in the strategy to prevent hospital-acquired infections.
There is also a hard-hitting news feature about the lack of
proper medical waste disposal in Iraq.
In our regional focus we look at healthcare in Oman and the
great strides that have been made in the country in the past 30
years.
And of course we keep you up to date with all the latest news
from the region and around the world, forthcoming expos and
conferences, and important medical notices.
